Ask The Pastor

February 17, 2004

Hi Sandy,

Thanks for writing. And you are most correct in that the picture is
larger than what little I shared with Laura.

> If Satan was an instrument of Hitler, why would Satan only want the
> Jews enialated? Why would he not enialate the Gentiles as well?

Good point. (Did you mean 'annihilate'?) I'm sure you see how
much the term 'ethnic cleansing' is at work on our planet. Cultural
groups are out to destroy other cultural groups. You can be sure
that Satan is behind all this. He has a hatred for humanity that is
difficult for us to grasp.

The root of the problem is that mankind was created on a different
level than were the angels. We actually carry the image and
likeness of God. In fact man is the only member of creation that is capable
of fellowshipping with God on His level. (Meaning that we are
uniquely kin to God.) Satan hates this....

But why the Jews in particular? Satan hates them because he
knows that God's redemption program includes the Jewish people
in a special way. According to the prophets the work of redemption
will complete itself with the turning of the Jewish people to Jesus.
Satan knows this, so in his own perverted wisdom, if he can get rid
of the Jews, he stops God's redemption in Christ and thereby he has
a free reign over the earth.

> It seems to me he would try to encourage the Jews, because they were
> the ones who renounced Christ, the ones that said he was not the son
> of God.

Good thought. However, not all the Jews renounced Christ. The
early Christian church was entirely Jewish. Jesus Christ split Israel
into two religions. Those who rejected Jesus began a new religion
called Judaism. (The Judaism today is not Biblical Judaism.) Those
who received Jesus as Messiah took on a different name, that is,
Christian. (Belonging to Messiah.)

> In fact, I believe they still don't believe that Christ was God's
> son, I think they still believe he was just a man and nothing more.

It really depends on the Jew. A great many Jews are turning to
Jesus today. In fact there has been an ad in the Jerusalem Post,
put out by an anti-Christian rabbi, which says, "Why have more Jews
converted to Christianity in the last 19 years than in the last 1900
years?" He goes on to say, "What are they doing right that we are
doing wrong."

Many Christians today aren't aware of the issue of Jews turning to
Jesus, but the Bible says this will happen. The greater part is
ahead. According to Zechariah 12, the nation of Israel is going to turn in
full measure to the Lord Jesus. It will take place under severe war
conditions.

Here is part of the prophecy: "I will pour out on the house of David
and on the inhabitants of Jerusalem, the Spirit of grace and
supplication, so that they will look on Me whom they have pierced;
and they will mourn for Him, as one mourns for an only son, and they
will weep bitterly over Him like the bitter weeping over a firstborn."
(Zech12:10)

Another thing you might find interesting is that most Jews in Israel,
and in the world itself, are not religious. The larger part are secular
and a great many are simply atheists. There is great disparity
between the religions Jews in Israel and between the secular Jews.

> I was reading your answer to Laura, because I was wondering why
> Hitler hated the Jews as well. I do believe there must be something
> more than just the answer you gave, for his hatred.

Sandy, my answer to Laura wasn't intended to be too in depth.
There is a great more to this. Hope I've helped a bit.

By the way if you are a Christian you may wish to subscribe to an
